The functions of a tutor and schoolteacher, though similar, do differ. At school, you work with a group of students. As a tutor, you work typically with one person, dealing mainly with vacancies in his/her knowledge. As a tutor, you have to:
- Make a diagnostic check and find a vacancy in knowledge
- Select a system of exercises aiming at a closure of the found vacancies
- Help in executing the selected exercises
- Choose exercises to be done independently for reinforcement of knowledge
- Explain a line of reasoning
If you are an experienced tutor, then you have skills to do this work. It seems that there is no place for a training program. Not quite so. A task of working out the home exercises that you give to your pupil can be allotted to the training program. The program EM Mentor offers a large choice of various exercises and examples, supplemented with functions of control and help. As a specialist, you can easily choose the needed examples and exercises.
I do not need to explain you that a pupil will feel much more confident if - while he carries out a task - he is helped, his work is checked up and evaluated. The only question remains: whether the program contains those exercises that you consider necessary for your pupil. To answer this question, try the "Light" version of our program EM Mentor in work. Check for yourself whether the offered exercises are up to your standard, and appreciate the training potentials of EM Mentor. If this is the case, then take an advantage of using this program in your work.
